LOS ANGELES (CBS) — A high surf advisory will be in effect through Saturday due to breakers that are expected to top 12 feet in some places.
The National Weather Service says a strong storm system from the central Pacific is now hitting the California coast.
Officials say only skilled surfers should enter the water due to potentially dangerous rip tides that can pull swimmers out to sea.
Beaches along the Central Coast could see 17-foot waves.
