LOS ANGELES (CBS) — Is the buzz over the rumored closure of one of LA’s most popular venues for live music just a lot of noise?
Bloggers with LA Weekly and LA Slush reported the Music Box at the Henry Fonda could be shutting down after reports of a “closed for inventory” sign out front and the venue’s sound and lighting systems removed from the building.
Speculation was further fueled by the Music Box’s official calendar showing all of January nearly devoid of any upcoming shows apart from a recurring weekly scheduled event.
But the rumor mill came to a grinding halt on Thursday afternoon when a venue promoter issued the following statement: “At this time, it is our understanding that the closing of The Music Box is a short term closure, please be patient with us as we work out the details as they pertain to our previously scheduled shows.”
Reports of the Music Box’s closure had initially stunned bloggers, who widely consider the venue to be among the top places to see live music in the city.
