Bad 'Karma': OC Luxury Electric Car Firm Recalls Entire 2012 Line

IRVINE (CBS) — The new year got off to a clunky start for one of the Southland's premier luxury automakers.

Irvine-based Fisker Automotive has issued a recall for its entire run of 2012 electric cars.

The company said improperly installed hose clamps in the vehicle's battery packs may cause coolant to leak and potentially spark a fire.

Fisker said the firm would replace the battery packs for the cars already sold, and plans to make changes to the glitch in over 1,200 more vehicles already in some stage of production.

"We see this quick and thorough response as an investment in our long-term reputation as we build a solid company that understands the importance of doing what is right for our customers," said CEO Henrik Fisker.

The firm has sold about 50 Karma vehicles at a price tag of over $100,000.

No incidents have been reported by Fisker customers.
