LA Cities Begin Phasing Out Plastic Bags
LOS ANGELES (CBS) — Starting with the new year, small neighborhood markets, drugs stores and convenience stores in parts of Los Angeles County are banned from distributing plastic bags.
The bags are blamed for everything from clogging storm drains to choking sea animals, KNX 1070′s Vytas Safronikas reports.

The ban includes Long Beach, Lennox, Bel Air, Marina del Rey, El Camino Village, Stevenson Ranch and Castaic as Los Angeles County phases out the sheer, single-use bags.
Los Angeles County's ordinance took effect on July 1 and applies to stores with annual gross sales of at least $2 million, or with 10,000 square feet of retail space. Stores will provide paper bags for 10 cents each.
