Moreno Valley Man, 26, Allegedly Shoots Wife In The Head During Domestic Quarrel

MORENO VALLEY (CBS) —  A Moreno Valley man allegedly shot his wife in the head -- in the same room where his 3-year-old child was sleeping -- during a domestic squabble Friday, a Riverside County sheriff's sergeant said.

Jose Delgado, 26, was booked on suspicion of attempted murder, child endangerment and possession of illegal substances after the alleged attack in the 12000 block of Shadowbrook Street.

Delgado and his wife were arguing around 5 a.m. when the suspect allegedly picked up a gun and fired at the victim, inflicting a grazing wound to her head, according to Sgt. James Rayls.

Witnesses summoned deputies. Delgado was arrested without incident, Rayls said.

"The couple's 3-year-old child was sleeping in the bedroom at the time of the incident and was found to be in harm's way," he said.

The woman -- whose name was not released -- was taken to Riverside County Regional Medical Center in Moreno Valley. She was treated for a non-life-threatening injury, the sergeant said.

Delgado was booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center in Riverside. Bail information was not immediately available.
