Jail Guard Accused Of Accepting iPad, Monetary Bribes From Inmate
WESTMINSTER (CBS) — A Seal Beach city jail guard accused of accepting bribes from an inmate is scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday.
The suspect, identified as Jose Alday of Santa Ana, allegedly accepted an iPad and monetary bribes in exchange for allowing an inmate access to contraband and visitors, authorities stated a news release issued by the Orange County D.A.'s office.
The alleged bribes occurred over a five-month period while the 32-year-old worked as a non-sworn city jail guard, authorities said.
Alday is facing multiple counts punishable by a maximum sentence of four years behind bars, if convicted.
He was arrested on Dec. 25, after police received a tip.
He is being held in lieu of $100,000 bail. An investigation is ongoing, authorities said.
