LOS ANGELES (CBS) — Billionaire hedge-fund executive Steven Cohen is leading the pack in efforts to acquire the Los Angeles Dodgers.
The Los Angeles Times reports that Cohen has already hired a sports architecture firm to look at possible stadium renovations.
He has also allied himself with a powerful baseball broker and two prominent Los Angeles-area billionaires.
Cohen is among the first bidders submitted to Major League Baseball for approval. Initial bids are due by Jan. 13, City News Service reported.
Dodgers owner Frank McCourt took the team to bankruptcy in June and agreed to sell the team last month.
