STUDIO CITY (CBS) — Los Angeles-based mixologists squared off in the “Battle of the Bartenders” to decide who could create the very best alcohol-free “mocktails” and promote responsible holiday hospitality.
Tamika Cole-Smith from Trader Vic’s Los Angeles was crowned the winner this year. She stopped by KCAL9 Tuesday to show how to make her award-winning mocktail!
Sponsored by the Insurance Information Network of California and co-hosted by L.A. LIVE, the competition demonstrated how party hosts can serve quality non-alcoholic drinks to help keep their guests safe on the ride home.
Trader Vic’s won top honors for the Sour Santa, a concoction combining pomegranate seeds, Meyer lemons, grenadine, rock candy syrup, mint leaves, rock candy stick and a twist of lemon.

I have a question for Tamika, can you use any fruit like oranges or apples?

go for it! i’d beware of any fruit that has a bitter-tasting skin and i’d watch out for the seeds in some fruits; they can be a little funny tasting and ruin the drink. happy new year!!
