KCAL9-TV Presents
THE “BUZZER BEATER SWEEPSTAKES”
NO PURCHASE OR PAYMENT OF ANY KIND IS NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN. THE CONTEST IS VOID WHERE PROHIBITED BY LAW.
1. How to Enter the Contest:
(a) The KCAL9 “BUZZER BEATER SWEEPSTAKES,” will begin on Monday, December 26, 2011 and end on Sunday, January 15, 2012 at 11:59PM PST. Contest is sponsored by Southern California Toyota Dealers Association.
(b) To participate in the contest, viewers must enter online at www.kcal9.com and complete the Entry Form provided with name, address, age, and daytime phone number.
(c) KCAL9-TV (“Sponsor”) is not responsible for late, lost, stolen, misdirected, misaddressed, postage due, incomplete or illegible entries. Sponsor is not responsible for technical or computer failures, errors or data loss of any kind, lost or unavailable Internet connections, or failed, incomplete, garbled or deleted computer or network transmissions, inability to access any Web site or on-line service, or any other error or malfunction, or late, lost, illegible or misdirected entries. Entry materials that have been tampered with or altered are void. If the judges determine, in their sole discretion, that there is any suspected or actual electronic tampering with the Contest or if technical difficulties compromise the integrity of the Contest, the judges reserve the right to void the entries at issue and/or terminate the Contest and conduct a random drawing to award the prize among all eligible entries received as of the termination date. If the Contest is terminated due to tampering or technical difficulties prior to its expiration date, notice will be posted at www.kcal9.com. If, for any reason, the Contest is not capable of running as planned, including infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures, or any other causes beyond the control of Sponsor which corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of the Contest, Sponsor reserves the right at its sole discretion to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the Contest. Sponsor reserves the right to disqualify any entrant that tampers with the operation of the Contest or website or violates the Official Rules of the Contest. By use of this website and by entering the Contest, you agree to the Sponsor’s Web Site Terms of Use Agreement and to the use of your personal information as described in the Privacy Policy located at: www.kcal9.com.
(d) In the event of rain during a select Buzzer Beater Segment, KCAL9-TV reserves the right to select: 1) an alternate location based on availability, 2) reschedule, or 3) cancel the contest for that day.
(e) Viewers can enter as many times as they wish. An entry submitted is deemed to be made by the holder of the e-mail account.
(f) Broadcasts are subject to preemptions and scheduling changes. If such changes occur, they will be posted on the KCAL9-TV web site.
(g) Odds of winning depend on the number of entries received.
2. Eligibility Restrictions:
(a) The contest is open to Southern California residents who are 18 years of age or older. Employees of Southern California Toyota Dealers Association, and their respective parents, subsidiaries, affiliates, directors, officers, governors, employees and agents, KCAL 9-TV, KCBS-TV, CBS Corporation, other television and radio stations in the Los Angeles market, and their affiliates, subsidiaries and advertising agencies and their immediate family members and persons living in the same household are ineligible to participate or win.
(b) Viewers are eligible to win a prize valued at $600.00 or more only once every six months. Only one winner per household is permitted in any contest.
(c) Viewers are eligible to win a KCAL9-TV and KCBS-TV contest only once every sixty days. Only one winner per household is permitted in any contest.
(d) All entries become the sole property of Station and will not be returned. By entering, entrants agree to abide by these rules, and warrant and represent that their entry is their original work.
(e) Contestants are required to provide truthful information and the Station will reject and delete any entry that it discovers to be false or fraudulent. The Station will disqualify any entry from individuals who do not meet the eligibility requirements, and the Station will also delete any entry received from persons under the age of 13.
3. Prizes:
(a) Grand Prize Package: One Grand Prize Winner will receive $10,000.00.
(b) Qualifiers: Five (5) Qualifiers will each receive: an invitation to come to the KCAL9 Studios located at 4200 Radford Avenue, Studio City, CA 91604, to participate in a pre-recorded Buzzer Beater Segment on Saturday, January 21, 2012.
Buzzer Beater segments are scheduled to air during the following five (5) LTV Pre-game Shows dates:
February 3, 2012
February 22, 2012
March 27, 2012
April 4, 2012
April 18, 2012
(c) Qualifiers will have :30 seconds to attempt at each of the following:
1) Free Throw Shot: Autographed Lakers Basketball. Approximate Value of Prize: $100.
2) 3 Point Shot: one (1) pair (2 tickets) to a Lakers game. Approximate Value of Prize: $160.00.
3) Half Court Shot: 42” Flat Screen Television. Approximate Value of Prize: $500.00.
Qualifiers must make each specified shot (Free Throw, 3 Point and Half Court Shot) in order to win that designated prize.
Qualifiers must make all three (3) shots within :30 seconds in order to advance to the finals for a chance to win the $10,000 Grand Prize.
In the event that there are no qualifiers to advance to the final round (the Half Court Shot for $10,000) KCAL9 officials will select one (1) qualifier in a random drawing to shoot one (1) Half Court Shot for $10,000.
In the event that the selected qualifier is unable to participate on the specified Buzzer Beater date, and alternate qualifier will be selected to take the place of the qualifier.

(d) All other costs and expenses in connection with qualifiers/winner receipt and use of the prize(s) are the qualifiers’/winner’s sole responsibility. Qualifiers/Winner are responsible for all other expenses not specifically set forth herein, including gratuities, other transportation, expenses and other incidentals. Inability of the qualifiers/winner to accept prize, as stated, will result in forfeiture of prize and an alternate qualifier/winner will be chosen. Other restrictions may apply.
(e) All prizes or prize certificates may be picked up at the office of KCAL9-TV, 4200 Radford Ave, Studio City, CA 91604. Any prize or prize certificate not claimed within 48 hours of winning will be forfeited by the qualifiers/winner. In the event that a prize or prize certificate is mailed to the qualifiers/winner, it will be with the prior written consent of the qualifiers/winner and therefore, the qualifiers/winner assumes the risk of its arrival. KCBS-TV/KCAL9-TV is not responsible for the safe arrival of a prize or prize certificate.
(f) Contest prizes are not transferable. Prizes may not be substituted for or redeemed for cash. Station reserves the right to substitute prize of comparable value.
4. Selection of Winners:
(a) Qualifiers and Alternate Qualifier:
Qualifiers and alternate qualifiers will be randomly selected to participate in one (1) of five (5) pre-recorded Buzzer Beater segments.
(b) Grand Prize Winner:
Each Qualifier(s) who makes all three (3) shots (Free Throw, 3 Point, and Half Court Shot) in the qualifying round will advance to the Buzzer Beater finals that will be pre-recorded on Saturday, January 21, 2012 and scheduled to air during the KCAL9 LTV Pre-Game Show on Thursday, April 26, 2012. Qualifier(s) who advance to the Buzzer Beater Finals will have one (1) chance to shoot one (1) Half Court Shot.
In the event that there are no qualifiers to advance to the finals, KCAL9 officials will select one (1) qualifier in a random drawing to be selected to participate to shoot one (1) Half Court Shot for $10,000.
In the event that there are two or more qualifiers that advance to the finals, KCAL9-TV reserves the right to execute the Grand Prize selection through one of the following scenarios:
i) KCAL9 will have a “playoff” to determine the qualifier that will throw for the Grand Prize. The “playoff” will be conducted in the following manner:
Each qualifier will have a chance to shoot one (1) Half Court Shot. If the qualifier makes the Half Court Shot, they are in contention for the Grand Prize. If the qualifier misses it, they are eliminated from contest and will not win the Grand Prize. If two or more qualifiers make the Half Court Shot, the qualifiers will each get to shoot another Half Court Shot. If the qualifiers continue to make the Half Court Shot, they remain in contention for the Grand Prize. The “playoff” will continue until all but one qualifier misses the Half Court Shot. The qualifier that did not miss the Half Court Shot during the “playoff” will win the $10,000. If none of the qualifiers make the Half Court Shot, no qualifier shall be awarded the $10,000.
ii) KCAL9 will select a qualifier at random (e.g. coin toss, etc.) to determine the qualifier that will shoot first for the Grand Prize.
(c) A representative of KCAL9-TV will contact the qualifiers by telephone. If KCAL9-TV is unable to contact a qualifier based on the information provided on the entry form through the initial phone call, an alternate qualifier will be randomly selected from all other eligible entries. Qualifier(s) must be present on the phone to win and accept the prize as stated. KCAL9-TV is not responsible for any qualifier’s inability to answer their phone(s) when prize(s) are being awarded by KCAL9-TV.
(d) The Qualifiers and Grand Prize winner will be required to sign and return to KCAL9-TV an Affidavit of Eligibility and Release of Liability form immediately upon notification. Inability to do so will result in a forfeiture of the Grand Prize and an alternate winner will be selected.
(e) Decisions of the contest sponsors with respect to the contest are final.
6. Conditions:
(a) Payment of all federal, state and local taxes are the sole responsibility of the winner and winners may receive an IRS Form 1099 or equivalent from Station.
(b) By participating in the contest, the winners agree to have their name, voice, or likeness used in any advertising or broadcasting material relating to this contest, and to sign a publicity release, affidavit of eligibility and release of liability prior to acceptance of the prize. By accepting the prize, each winner grants to Station the right to use the winner’s name, voice, picture and/or likeness for purposes of advertising and publicity in any and all media now known or hereafter invented, without further permission or additional compensation (except where prohibited by law). All expenses on receipt and use of prize, and all federal, state and local taxes, are the sole responsibility of winner. Winners, by acceptance of their prizes, agree to release Southern California Toyota Dealers Association, and their respective parents, subsidiaries, affiliates, directors, officers, governors, employees and agents, KCAL 9-TV, KCBS-TV, CBS Corporation, their respective parents and subsidiaries, officers, directors, shareholders and their respective advertising, promotion and production agencies from any and all liability, claims or actions of any kind whatsoever for injuries, damages or losses to persons and property which may be sustained in connection with the receipt, ownership or use of the prize or while preparing for, participating in, and/or traveling to any prize-related activity. Void where prohibited by law.
7. Contest Sponsors reserve the right to make changes in the rules of the contest which will become effective upon announcement.
8. Sponsor is not responsible for any typographical or other errors in the printing, the offering or the administration of the contest or in the announcement of the prize.
9. Failure to comply with the contest rules may result in a contestant’s disqualification.
