Occupy LA Protester Pleads Guilty To Trespassing

LOS ANGELES (AP) — An Occupy LA protester, who returned to Los Angeles City Hall after a tent encampment was shut down, has pleaded guilty to trespassing.

The city attorney's office says Bethania Palma was ordered Monday to serve 20 days in jail or perform 10 days of work with the California Department of Transportation.

She also must stay away from the park around City Hall. Authorities arrested six protesters Saturday night after they returned to the fenced-off area. Three other people have been charged and await pre-trial hearings.

Nearly 300 other people were arrested on Nov. 30 when police dismantled the months-old encampment. The city attorney's office says 51 criminal cases have been filed. One protester was convicted of failure to disperse and was given 10 days of community service.
