SOUTH GATE (CBS) — County fire authorities say an 85-year-old man has been found dead following a blaze inside a home in South Gate.
Firefighters responded to a first-alarm fire at a residence in the 2500 block of Cole Place about 6:45 a.m. Wednesday.
County fire Inspector Quvondo Johnson said firefighters put out the blaze within 15 minutes of arriving on scene.
The man’s identity has been withheld pending notification of next of kin.
The cause of the fire was under investigation.
A damage estimate was not immediately available at the home authorities described as having “packrat conditions.”
The deceased lived at the location, according to authorities.
