Man, 23, Charged In Deadly Westminster Stabbing

WESTMINSTER (CBS) — A murder charge was filed Wednesday against a 23-year-old man accused of stabbing his pregnant girlfriend to death outside a Westminster apartment complex.

Ahmad Rashad Siddiqi of Alexandria, Va., also faces special circumstance allegations of lying in wait and multiple victims.

Prosecutors will decide later whether to pursue a death sentence should he be convicted.

Westminster police Detective Alan Aoki said officers were sent to an apartment complex in the 15100 block of Brookhurst Street about 7:15 p.m. Monday in response to reports of a man stabbing a woman.

Upon arrival, witnesses directed the officers to a parking lot where investigators found the woman's body.

The victim, whose name has been withheld pending notification of next of kin, was taken to UCI Medical Center where she passed away.

It wasn't immediately clear how far along the woman was in her pregnancy.

According to Aoki, the two had a "heated argument" just before Siddiqi allegedly chased her with a knife.

Siddiqi had allegedly dated the victim for about a year.

He was arrested a short time later, the detective said.
