1 Dead, 1 Critical In Coachella Rollover Crash

COACHELLA (CBS) —  A 33-year-old Indio man was killed and another person left in critical condition after a solo vehicle crash in Coachella, according to the fire department.

The crash occurred at 12:25 a.m. on Grapefruit Boulevard, just north of Avenue 49, said fire department spokeswoman Cheri Patterson.

The driver of the sedan lost control of the vehicle and struck the center median causing it to roll over, Patterson said.

Firefighters freed the two occupants trapped in the car and the coroner pronounced one of them dead at the scene at 12:47 a.m. The other occupant was transported by air to Desert Regional Medical Center, Patterson said.

The dead man's name was withheld, pending next of kin.
