Mentally-Challenged 45-Year-Old Westminster Woman Missing

WESTMINSTER (CBS) — Westminster police are asking for the public's help to help find a missing 45-year-old woman who has the mental capacity of a 6-year-old.

Chau Thi Thu Nguyet was last seen by her mother at her residence in the 8500 block of Oasis Avenue about noon Tuesday, according to Detective Alan Aoki of the Westminster Police Department.

An eyewitness believes he saw the woman walking from a Sprint store at the Orange Mall at around 6 p.m. that evening.

She slipped out the front door without anyone noticing.

Nguyet has a psychiatric condition that requires medication. When she went missing she did not have any money or identification on her and she does not speak English. She has difficulty speaking in her native Vietnamese and police said she can seem very timid and afraid when approached by strangers.

Nguyet  is 5-foot-2, weighs 100 pounds, has short black hair and brown eyes with missing upper teeth. She was last seen wearing a pink-orange long-sleeved sweater, the same one shown in the photo.

Anyone with information about Nguyet''s whereabouts was asked to call police at (714) 548-4600.
