Spanish Teacher, 37, Accused Of Having Sex With A Student

SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO (CBS) — A 37-year-old high school Spanish teacher in San Juan Capistrano has been arrested for having sex with one of his students, according to officials.

Orange County sheriff's deputies arrested Ricardo Aldana of Dana Point about 11:30 p.m., Wednesday, near his home, Jim Amormino of the Orange County Sheriff's Department said.

Aldana posted bail, Amormino said.

Aldana, a teacher at JSerra Catholic High School, was booked on suspicion of lewd and lascivious acts and child molestation, Amormino said.

The alleged victim told her mother she and the teacher had sex in his home in September. The girl's mother called sheriff's deputies, Amormino said.

Investigators are concerned there may be more alleged victims because Aldana , who taught Spanish at the school for seven years, is also the junior varsity girls volleyball coach, Amormino said.

Aldana also is a coach/mentor for the T Street volleyball team in Irvine an assistant coach on the high school's boys soccer team, Amormino said.

The alleged victim did not play on the volleyball teams, Amormino said.

Aldana was fired when school officials were notified of his arrest, according to a statement.

"We are outraged and sickened by these disturbing allegations and are cooperating fully with the Orange County Sheriff's Department," the statement from JSerra read. "We strongly encourage anybody in the JSerra community with information that might aid the investigation to contact the sheriff's department immediately ... JSerra does not tolerate inappropriate conduct between faculty/staff and minors, and we will continue to forcefully enforce our policy."
