Judge Rejects Bid To Reinstate Nadya Suleman's Doctor

LOS ANGELES (AP) — A judge has refused to reinstate the medical license of a fertility doctor who gave a woman octuplets, saying the state Medical Board's revocation was the appropriate action.

Superior Court Judge James Chalfant firmly rejected a bid Thursday by lawyers for Dr. Michael Kamrava, who wanted his license reinstated so he could practice medicine again.

Kamrava's attorneys called the medical board's ruling a death sentence for the doctor's career. The judge agreed, but said Kamrava's case was so extreme there could be no other outcome.

Nadya Suleman already had six children when she gave birth to eight more in January 2009. The medical board found Kamrava violated proper standards of care when he implanted 12 embryos in her.
