'Hugo,' 'The Artist' Top Critics' Choice Award Nominations

LOS ANGELES (CBS) — Director Martin Scorsese's 3-D family adventure "Hugo" and the black-and-white silent movie tribute "The Artist" each received 11 nominations Tuesday for the 17th annual Critics' Choice Movie Awards, including nods for best picture.

They will compete for best picture honors with "The Descendants," "Drive," "Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close," "The Help," "Midnight in Paris," "Moneyball," "The Tree of Life" and "War Horse."

"The Help" and "Drive" each earned eight nominations each, while "The Descendants" and "War Horse" both collected seven.

George Clooney received three nominations as part of the best acting ensemble nominees for "The Descendants" and "The Ides of March," along with a best actor nomination for "The Descendants."

The Critics' Choice Awards, which are presented by the Broadcast Film Critics Association, will be presented Jan. 12 at the Hollywood Palladium.
