Sandy Sandler Shares Tips For Do-It-Yourself Gifts

STUDIO CITY (CBS) — Sandy Sandler visited KCAL9 Monday to share tips for making your own gifts.

Sandler says that with a little creativity, you can create the perfect gift for that someone special without breaking the bank.

The following are some of her suggestions.

Holiday Gifts

Joy to the World Stacking Trays

Instead of using stacking boxes create stacking trays for this unique holiday look.  "Joy to the World" is the perfect quintessential holiday saying and fits perfectly on these tiered stacking trays. Stacking the trays one on top of the other gives the look of wooden boxes but is the perfect depth for a mantle or side table. To see project step-by-step instructions, click here.

Ribbon Christmas Tree

The ribbon Christmas tree is the perfect present that can be handmade for teachers, neighbors, friends, family, or given as hostess gifts. In addition to the gift, this festive piece also doubles as holiday home décor. Using a Styrofoam cone, pinheads and simple ribbon can easily be made together with your children. Seasons Greetings Holiday Frames

These can easily be made adding your own creative flair using materials you already have on hand. You can make inexpensive holiday frames using scrapbooking materials, bobbin ribbons, and embellishments.  Purchase cheap acrylic frames for less than a dollar to make a Seasons Greetings holiday gift.

Holiday Gift Basket

Holiday baskets filled with festive small presents are a wonderful gift for Christmas, but the standard wicker baskets can be expensive.  Purchase a small plastic storage tray (for 50 cents) and transform it into a holiday gift basket using Krylon Fusion spray paint and Bowdabra's Ribbon-To-Bead. Bowdabra's Ribbon-To-Bead comes with a wire needle attached to the ribbon spool so threading beads onto the ribbon is easy and quick. Sign-up for Bowdabra's Newsletter and receive a coupon code for free Ribbon-to-Bead.
