BAKERSFIELD (AP) — Authorities say the sole occupant of a small plane is dead from a crash east of Bakersfield.
The Kern County Sheriff’s office says officers were alerted to a single-engine plane crash about 1 p.m. Saturday near Dove Spring in the Mojave area, just west of highway 14.
Shortly after reaching the scene, deputies discovered the plane was occupied by one person who had died in the crash.
The victim was identified as 65-year-old Richard Hames Crosley of Palmdale.
The crash was under investigation. There was no immediate word on the cause.
