MORENO VALLEY (CBS) — Skeletal human remains were found in an open agricultural field near Moreno Valley, the Riverside County sheriff’s department reported Saturday.
The remains of an unknown gender were recovered at about 9:15 a.m. Friday about two miles west of Sanderson Avenue near Gilman Springs Road between Moreno Valley and San Jacinto, sheriff’s Cpl. Courtney Donowho said.
Homicide detectives were called to the scene because it seemed like unusual circumstances, she said.
The remains have not been identified, and Donowho said that there was no indication yet of foul play. She did not reveal what tipped officers to the location.
The sheriff’s department was continuing to investigate, Donowho said.
