STUDIO CITY (CBS) —  A motorcycle rider was killed in a collision on the westbound Ventura (101) Freeway Saturday morning.

The accident, just west of Laurel Canyon Boulevard, was reported at 3:01, California Highway Patrol Officer Anthony Martin said. A SigAlert was issued to accommodate the investigation.

California Highway Patrol received reports of a collision involving a motorcycle and a vehicle on the westbound 101 Freeway, just west of Laurel Canyon Boulevard, said Officer Anthony Martin of the CHP.

Martin described the accident as a high speed collision, with the motorcycle rider being declared dead at the scene.
