Dodgers' James Loney Could Face DUI Charges From November Crash

LOS ANGELES (CBS) — City prosecutors were working today to decide whether to file criminal charges against Los Angeles Dodgers star James Loney,who was arrested in mid-November on suspicion of driving under the influence.

"We have received a report from the California Highway Patrol, and we are reviewing the circumstances for filing considerations," according to Frank Mateljan of the City Attorney's Office.

Dodgers spokesman Joe Jareck said in a statement, "We're aware of the incident and we're looking into it."

CHP Officer Leland Tang said Loney was arrested following a traffic collision that occurred shortly after 6 p.m. Nov. 14 on the westbound Ventura (101) Freeway near Sepulveda Boulevard in Sherman Oaks.

Loney was driving a 2009 Maserati that allegedly sideswiped three other cars and then stopped in the fast lane, Tang said. The other motorists stopped and tried to talk to him, but they said he appeared to be unconscious, Tang
said.

A CHP officer reported that Loney appeared to have symptoms of beingintoxicated, Tang said.

Paramedics took Loney to a hospital, where the CHP placed him under arrest and a blood sample was taken, Tang said.
Loney was then released for treatment at the hospital.

There was no timeline for when city prosecutors would make a decision on whether to file charges. Authorities are awaiting the results of a blood test.
