EL MONTE (CBS) — Authorities were involved in a high speed chase on the Westbound 10 Freeway Wednesday afternoon.
The case began in Ontario around 3:45 p.m, according to CHP Officer Vince Ramirez.
Authorities believed a suspect was armed as he reached for something in his waistband.
Th e unidentified man is wanted for burglary, according to Stu Mundel reporting in Sky9.
During the chase, authorities tried to box the suspect in but on several occasions he squeezed his way in between cars and the breakdown lane.
After leaving the freeway, the suspect drove erratically on surface streets. At one point, he barely avoided colliding with a big rig. At another intersection, believed to be on Olympic Boulevard, he hit one car from behind.
Just after 4:15 p.m., the suspect pulled into a parking area.
Officers thought they were chasing one, possibly two men, but were surprised when three people got out of the vehicle with their hands raised.
The suspect was taken into custody without any resistance.
Police later said that all three men would be charged with burglary.
