'You Ain't Got No Shame At All!' Residents Call For San Fernando Mayor To Quit

SAN FERNANDO (CBS) — A wave of political and sexual scandals in the city of San Fernando has residents calling for the resignation of the city's mayor, police chief and other officials.

Concerned citizens packed a City Council meeting on Monday night to demand that Mayor Mario Hernandez step down after he admitted to having an affair with a council member last month.

At a meeting in November, Hernandez tried to convince his constituents that he and his wife had separated prior to his public confession — a statement that his wife publicly denied before being ushered out of the meeting by police.

Two weeks later, residents were still clearly upset to see Hernandez presiding over the meeting.

"What bothers me is we have two people that are having a relationship that are sitting on the City Council," said resident Mary Mendoza. "I cannot believe that there is not a conflict of interest there."

"You know what, Mayor? You ain't got no shame at all!" another resident said.

A scandal within the police department, privatization of the fire department and charges of misappropriation of city funds also drew the larger-than-usual crowd to the meeting.
