Redondo Beach, Private Investors To Partner In Waterfront Facelift Project

REDONDO BEACH (CBS) — Officials with the city of Redondo Beach announced plans on Monday for a new hotel and a revitalized pier along the city's waterfront.

KNX 1070's Charles Feldman reports the project was revived after the passage of a ballot measure last year.

"We were able to finally get a consensus plan approved, which really set the stage for quality control developments and really respects the heritage and history of our city," said Mayor Mike Gin.

The renovation is expected to bring new life to the Redondo Beach Pier and King Harbor stretching from Torrance Boulevard to Herondo Avenue.

Longtime leaseholder Bob Reznick will be one of those partnering with the city along the stretch of land formerly known as the "pier approach".

The renovations are expected to be completed within one to two years.

King Harbor is also scheduled to host a new hotel complex slated to open in 2014.
