9 Injured In Crash Involving Blue Line Train, Car Downtown

LOS ANGELES (KNX 1070) — Authorities said nine people were taken to area hospitals following a collision between a car and a Blue Line train Downtown.

KNX 1070’s Kim Marriner reports that the accident, which happened between 18th Street and Flower, occurred about 2:52 p.m. Friday.

Authorities said the light train was heading for Long Beach when a sedan crossed into its path.

Four men inside the sedan and five aboard the train were taken to area hospitals, according to L.A. City Fire spokesman Brian Humphrey. None of those hurt suffered life threatening injuries.

It’s still unclear why the driver didn’t stop for the train.
