HUNTINGTON BEACH (CBS) — Eight of nine people on board a boat were injured following some sort of explosion on the vessel.

The incident occurred about 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Peter’s Landing Marina in Huntington Beach.

Bob Culhane with Huntington Beach Fire told CBS2 that the boat was mid-channel when it appeared to be having some issues and exploded, knocking several passengers into the water.

A retired Harbor Patrol officer, however, was nearby and coached some of the passengers off the boat and helped get the others out of the water.
