Family: Love Triangle May Have Fueled La Puente Shooting

LA PUENTE (CBS) — A man fatally shot his ex-girlfriend and her new boyfriend and then took his own life at a La Puente home on Wednesday, according to a preliminary sheriff's investigation.

Deputies sent to the 700 block of Sierra Vista Court at 10:20 a.m. discovered the bodies, and homicide detectives were summoned to the scene, said Sgt. Diane Hecht of the Sheriff's Headquarters Bureau.

The names and ages of the three people were not immediately released.

The female victim is a mother and grandmother in her 50s and a native of Mexico, KCAL 9's Suraya Fadel reported.

The victim's family said the victim had recently entered into a relationship with a new man whom they believe is the second victim.

Sheriff's Lt. Eddie Hernandez told KCAL9 that preliminary information indicates that the man gunned down his ex-girlfriend and her new boyfriend and then turned the gun on himself.

"People should realize it looks like it's a domestic violence incident," Lt. Eddie Hernandez said. "It appears to be directed at this family...it's not like there's a man with a gun running around the
community."

Investigators said it remains unclear whether there were any prior reports of domestic disputes at the residence.
