Caught On Camera: Bar Fight Turns Deadly In Redlands

REDLANDS (CBS) — A fight in a bar spilled out onto the street and, seconds later, a gunshot rang out, ending a young man’s life.

Officials have now released surveillance video of the fight and the victim’s mother made an emotional plea Tuesday for any information leading to the killer.

“The people who shot him and killed him do not deserve to be with their families or to be celebrating what they did,” said Kuaea’s mother, Maricia McLendon. “He was 22, young…his whole life ahead of him.”

The shooting occurred at Charlie Jewell’s restaurant and bar on State Street in Redlands.

Kruze Levusi Kuaea, 22, of Calimesa was killed and two other men were shot by the suspect.

Police said the trouble began inside Charlie Jewell’s bar when two groups of men got into a fight. They did not release information on what started the brawl.

Security pushed the men outside, where the fighting continued.

Surveillance video shows Kuaea punching one man, triggering a brawl and gunshots.

Officials were asking the public to watch the video and photos and to contact them with any information on the suspects.
