Film School Students Behind Robbery Scare At Hollywood Liquor Store

LOS ANGELES (CBS) — A Southland liquor store was the backdrop for a bizarre scene after a reported robbery turned out to be nothing more than a very realistic film shoot.

Police received a call around 11:20 p.m. on Monday night from a citizen who thought a robbery was in progress at the House of Ambrose liquor store on the 3300 block of Barham Boulevard in Hollywood.

The LAPD responded with several patrol units and began extracting people one at a time from the store.

After several interviews, officers determined the "suspects" were University of Texas students who where filming a student production.

The students — who used fake guns for the production — did have a filming permit but neglected to alert the LAPD to their plans.

No arrests were made, police said.
