Turkey Tips From Adam Taki
STUDIO CITY (CBS) — A better tasting Thanksgiving turkey is easy with tips from Adam Taki.
Taki visited the KCAL 9 studios Monday and brought along one of his best recipes for a delicious bird.
-cooking time varies by size of turkey
-turkey, 9-12 lbs, thawed or fresh
herb stuffing, 6 cups
butter, 1 cup
onion, 1 cup, chopped
celery, 1 cup, chopped
mushroom, 1 cup, sliced
rosemary, ½ teaspoon, whole
thyme, ½ teaspoon, whole
chicken broth (or water), 1 ¼ cups, low-sodium
Amazing Taste® Poultry seasoning, 2 packets (2 oz)
Rinse the turkey with cold running water and set it aside.
On MEDIUM-HIGH heat, sauté vegetables in ¼ cup of butter for 3 to 4 minutes, or until the onions are transparent. Combine the veggies with herb stuffing in a medium-sized bowl with herb stuffing and add ¼ cup melted butter. Mix well.
Coat the inside of the neck and body cavity of the bird with Amazing Taste Poultry seasoning. Stuff the entire inside of the turkey with stuffing, allowing for a little bit of expansion during roasting*. The remaining stuffing should be put in a covered baking dish, to cook for the last 45 minutes.
Truss or skewer both openings.
Melt ½ cup of butter and add the remaining seasoning. Add rosemary and thyme, and mix well. Coat the entire turkey with the liquid marinade.
Bake in the roasting pan at 425°F for the first 15 minutes. Reduce the temperature to 325°F and continue cooking until the internal temperature reaches 165°F, basting every 20 minutes.
