NEWPORT BEACH (CBS) — Authorities Sunday released the identity of a man who was fatally struck by a vehicle in Newport Beach last week.

James McClain of Costa Mesa was on Irvine Avenue near Anniversary Lane when he was struck about 8 p.m. Friday, according to police and the coroner’s office.

Paramedics transported the 56-year-old to Mission Regional Medical Center in Mission Viejo, where he was declared dead about 3:45 a.m. Saturday.

No other information was immediately available.
