18-Year-Old Accused Of Ramming His Car Into Couple On Motorcycle In Road Rage Attack

TEMECULA (CBS) — An 18-year-old Winchester man intentionally rammed his vehicle into a motorcycle carrying a man and a woman in an incident of alleged road rage, police said Saturday.

Motorcycle officers looking for speeding vehicles on Nicolas Road and Via Venecia witnessed the incident at 5:22 p.m. Friday, according to Sgt. Mark Leggett.

Police said Randon Anthony Valdes of Winchester deliberately ran his gray 2007 Saturn Vu into a 2007 Yamaha being ridden by a 21-year-man with a 20-year-old female passenger, causing them to crash almost directly in front of the officers.

"During the course of the investigation, the officers learned the driver of the vehicle and the motorcyclists were engaged in some form of road rage near the Promenade mall and the driver then chased down and deliberately ran his vehicle into the motorcycle," Leggett said.

Both riders were transported to Inland Valley Regional Medical Center in Wildomar, he said.

Valdes was arrested and booked at the Southwest Detention Center in Murrieta for suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon. He posted $25,000 bail and was released, jail records show.
