Occupy LA Protester Eyeing 2012 Rose Parade

PASADENA (CBS) — Preparations for the 2012 Rose Parade are well underway, but Occupy LA protesters are making plans of their own for the big day.

Peter Thottam, an Occupy LA organizer, is looking to call a rally at the world famous Rose Parade on Jan. 2, 2012.

"This is a Rose Parade that has become militarized and corporatized dramatically," says Thottam. "Things have become so broken in this country."

William Flinn, Director of the Tournament of Roses, is aware of Thottam's plans and says he believes attendees will not want a disruption to the parade.

Chief Phillip Sanchez of the Pasadena PD says his department will protect the first amendment rights of all citizens, but will prepare for the worst case scenario.

"That's what any contemporary law enforcement agency does," says Sanchez. "That's what the Pasadena Police Department will do."
