(CBS) — Roberto Luongo made 27 saves and the Vancouver Canucks edged the Los Angeles Kings 3-2 at Staples Center on Thursday night.
The Kings trailed 3-1 when they pulled Jonathan Quick, and the move paid off as Mike Richards deflected in his fourth goal of the year, cutting the Canucks lead to 3-2 with 1:10 remaining.
Los Angeles mounted a furious attack in the games final seconds, but Luongo came up strong helping give the Canucks their eighth win of the season.
Drew Doughty scored his second goal of the season in the second period.
The Kings will host the Minnesota Wild on Saturday night.
