Arraignment Postponed For Suspect In Chatsworth Double Murder

LOS ANGELES (CBS) — A former bank robber made his first appearance in court Monday since the killing a San Fernando Valley couple last summer.

KNX 1070's John Brooks reports lawyers for Brent Zubek, 43, convinced a judge in a San Fernando courtroom to postpone his arraignment.

Zubek — a former member of the "Hole In The Wall" robbery gang from Canyon Country who was convicted in several robberies in the early 1990s — was in court on charges of assaulting on a peace officer.

The charges stem from his arrest back in August this summer after police said he killed a couple in Chatsworth where he rented a room and stuffed their bodies into trash bins.

Zubek managed to elude capture for two weeks by donning various disguises, including a wig with dreadlocks.

Police have yet to officially charge Zubek with the double murder. The arraignment has been postponed until Dec. 9 at the request of public defender Mitch Barkner.
