Security Beefed Up At Calif. Border Crossing Over Terrorism Threat

SAN DIEGO (CBS) — Authorities are warning of a potential threat to one of California’s border crossings with Mexico.

KNX 1070’s Tom Reopelle reports the Calexico border crossing remains open Friday amid an unconfirmed threat.

Customs and Border Protection deployed additional officers to the port to ensure safety for travelers and border personnel.

“We are working closely with our state, local and federal law enforcement partners and with teh government of Mexico,” said CBP spokeswoman Jackie Wasiluk.

“We ask our federal, state, and local partners and the public to remain vigilant and to report any suspicious activity to local law enforcement authorities,” she added.

Information on the potential threat has not been disclosed, but the threat does originate from the Mexico side of the border, CBP officials said.
