LOS ANGELES (CBS) — Legendary Hollywood producer Gilbert Cates has died at the age of 77.

Cates’ body was found in a parking lot at UCLA. Authorities believe he died Monday, according to TMZ.

Cates was the dean of the School of Theatre Film and Television, which he founded, from 1990 to 1998.

Throughout his career, he produced and directed many Broadway plays.

He recently produced the Academy Awards show.
