"Yes @kimkardashian is filing for divorce this morning. I touched base with her, getting a statement in just a few mins," E! News host and "Keeping Up With The Kardashians" executive producer Ryan Seacrest confirmed early Monday morning on Twitter.

"After careful consideration, I have decided to end my marriage. I hope everyone understands that this was not an easy decision. I had hoped this marriage was forever, but sometimes things don't work out as planned. We remain friends and wish each other the best," Kardashian later said through her publicist, Pearl Servat.

The couple has a prenuptial agreement and Kardashian is not seeking spousal support.

Rumors of a split have been circulating since the couple wed in Montecito on Aug. 20. As TMZ's Harvey Levin told KNX 1070 Monday, the couple split over where they would live. Humphries wanted Kardashian to settle in Minnesota, but she wanted to remain in Los Angeles, Levin said.

This is Kardashian's second marriage. She was married to music producer Damon Thomas from 2000 to 2004.

Kardashian's sister, Khloe Kardashian Odom, is also taking to Twitter to defend her.

"Reading some these comments r so hurtful. Im grateful 4our fans who understand & r being respectful. Hate is disgusting. Love is everything," she wrote Monday. "Thank God for family. We are strong and we will only become closer! I love YOU."
