TEMECULA (CBS) — A Temecula man was arrested for resisting arrest, for refusing to leave his motel room, as well as drug and gun possession the sheriff's department said Sunday.

After police convinced Bruce Ruskin Hawkins, 43, to leave his room -- at a Motel 6 in the 4100 block of Moreno Road in Temecula -- they allegedly found two loaded guns, drugs and drug paraphernalia.

The incident began about 1:20 p.m. Saturday when deputies were called to the Motel 6 about a complaint that a guest that would not leave a room, according to sheriff's Sgt. Will Edwards.

Motel management filled out a trespassing complaint and deputies went to extricate the man, but he would not open the door, Edwards said.

When deputies attempted to put the suspect in a patrol car, he reportedly became agitated and refused to cooperate, Edwards said.

Hawkins was arrested for suspicion of trespassing, resisting arrest, and drug and weapon offenses, according to Edwards.

Hawkins, who complained of having a medical condition, was taken to a hospital for tests and then booked into the Southwest Detention Center in Murrieta, where he was being held in lieu of $5,000 bail, jail records showed.
