LOS ANGELES (CBS) — Authorities say a man, who had attended a Halloween party, was shot in the ankle in South Los Angeles.
The victim, who was believed to be dressed in a Smurf costume, was at or near Sixth Avenue and 30th Street at the time of the shooting.
The incident occurred about 2:45 a.m. Sunday, said Los Angeles police Sgt. Mark Green.
According to Green, the 25-year-old victim “got into an argument with the suspect.”
“The suspect punched the victim’s girlfriend, and when the victim came to the aid of his girlfriend, the suspect shot him in the ankle,” Green said.
The victim was transported to a local hospital. The suspect fled the scene and remains at large.
The identities of those involved were not made public.
