Boy Scout Master, 50, Rescued After Falling 20 Feet Onto Rocks
LOS ANGELES (CBS) — A boy scout master fell 20 feet off a trail Saturday while hiking with his troop in the Angeles National Forest, sheriff's officials said.
It happened at about 2:15 p.m. on Bear Canyon Trail, just two miles south of Switzer Falls, said Deputy Guillermina Saldana of the Sheriff's Headquarters Bureau.
The 50-year-old scout master, who was hiking with a scout troop of six boys, fell about 20 feet onto a bed of rocks, Saldana said.
"(Rescuers) located the injured hiker very quickly thanks to his scout troop who swung a large mylar tarp to alert the aircraft of their location," Saldana said in a statement.
The man was airlifted to a hospital and treated for minor injuries.
