"While querying the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) information in law enforcement databases, CBP officers discovered that the vehicle was reported stolen on November 24, 1988," the CBPsaid.

The luxury car, estimated at $27,552, was seized by officials and released to Las Vegas police. It was originally undervalued at $12,552 on the vehicle manifest.

From Oct. 2010 to Aug. 2011, port officials have seized 100 stolen or undervalued vehicles and engines that were bound for foreign countries. The items were valued at $1.8 million.
