Veteran LAPD Sergeant Arrested On Suspicion Of Burglary

LOS ANGELES (CBS) — A Los Angeles police sergeant arrested on suspicion of breaking into a woman's home was placed on paid leave Tuesday, pending an investigation.

Lucien Daigle, 44, was arrested Sunday night near the victim's home, according to sheriff's Sgt. Paul Morrison.

The woman, who was not identified, told deputies she came home from walking her dogs and found her back door open and a man inside.

Authorities said she sprayed Daigle with pepper spray, and he ran off about 6:20 p.m. He reportedly crashed his car at Greenspot Road and Santa Ana Truck Road.

Police said he was arrested after the accident, and the car was filled with pepper spray.

Daigle has worked for the Los Angeles Police Department for 18 years and is assigned to the Olympic Station.

His bail is set at $125,000, according to Morrison.
