Man Gets 9 Years For Hit-And-Run Death Of Elderly Montebello Woman

LOS ANGELES (AP) — A 38-year-old man has been sentenced to nine years in state prison for the hit-and-run death of an elderly Montebello woman three years ago.

David Louis Loera was convicted in August of one count each of vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence and leaving the scene of an accident. His sentence was imposed Friday.

The Los Angeles County District Attorney's office says Loera struck 84-year-old Norma Lambo-Plasencia in October 2009 while she was out walking her dog. Loera fled the scene.

He was arrested two days later after his pickup truck was found at an auto body shop.
