SHERMAN OAKS (CBS) — Police are hoping surveillance video will lead them to a thief who burglarized Café Bizou.

Café Bizou, 14016 Ventura Blvd., was burglarized when the restaurant was closed around 1:40 a.m. Monday.

Police say the suspect entered through a back door, broke open a cash register and a lock box, and stole more than $10,000 cash.

Investigators believe the suspect is a transient.

The suspect was described as a white man with brown hair, about 35 to 45 years old, between 5 feet 8 and 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighing between 160 and 170 pounds. He was wearing blue jeans and a blue T-shirt and carrying a gray backpack.

Anyone with information about the burglary suspect's identity or whereabouts was asked to contact LAPD Van Nuys area Detective Michael O'Connor at (818) 374-0024, or 877-LAPD-24-7 after business hours.
