Retired Shaq O'Neal Wants To Own NBA Team In Newark

NEW YORK (CBS) Shaquille O'Neal has many outside-basketball interests since his retirement from the NBA. He's a cop, dances, raps, tweets you name it. He recently invested on Tout.com which shares 15-second videos with friends.

In an interview with the New York Times, Shaq expressed his interest in brining and owning an NBA team to his hometown of Newark, New Jersey.

You've talked about owning a team someday. Do you still want to do that?

A.Yes. And I'm looking forward to bringing a team to Newark. I haven't spoken to Mayor Booker about it yet, but I'm working on it. I know Newark can support an N.B.A. team. And I'm going to be one of the guys that's going to bring a team there.

The Nets are moving to Brooklyn after the completion of the 2011-2012 season, which leaves room for Shaq to bring a team to the town he grew up in.

So Shaq might of retired at the best time possible before all this lockout mess started.

Having Shaq join forces with Jerry Buss and Michael Jordan as NBA owners would be a pretty cool thought.

Now imagine those guys together in NBA labor discussions?
