LOS ANGELES (CBS) — “Sesame Street” became a dark alley for visitors on YouTube this weekend — at least temporarily.

Hackers reportedly compromised the official channel for the Children’s Television Workshop program on Sunday, forcing the site to shut down.

The longtime puppet characters were replaced by scenes from pornographic films that played for at least 20 minutes while the show’s information technology officials worked to shut down the site.

The channel’s YouTube profile was temporarily changed by a user who identified himself as “MREDXWX” and left a message reading, “WHO DOESN’T LOVE PORN KIDS? RIGHT! EVERYONE LOVES IT!”, according to online security company Sophos.

Youtube user “MrEdxWx” later uploaded a video denying any involvement in the attack.

Sesame Street’s channel was suspended for repeated violation of “community guidelines”.
