POMONA (CBS) — Pomona police were unusually tight-lipped about the circumstances behind the death of a man in an OIS on a  stretch of Holt Avenue notorious for frequent narcotics and prostitution traffic.

L.A. County sheriff’s detectives have been brought in to probe the shooting death, which occurred at 8:40 a.m. Sunday on the 900 block of West Holt Avenue, said Deputy Lillian Peck at the Sheriff’s Headquarters Bureau.

A watch commander at the Pomona Police Department asked that all media inquires be directed to the Sheriff’s Headquarters Bureau.

The victim, an unidentified man, died at the scene, Peck said.
