LOS ANGELES (CBS) — Blue Shield has announced that its California policyholders will be getting a $283 million credit on their December insurance premiums.
Individual policyholders will get an average of $135, while families of four will get roughly $420.
Blue Shield says it’s fulfilling a promise to return money to policyholders when its net income exceeds two percent of revenue.
The company says it has spend less on medical claims because customers have cut back on medical care.
